Sanford didn't go far enough.

Governor Mark Sanford didn't go far enough in his rejection of federal stimulus money on Wednesday. While portraying it as a rejection of funds, he only asked to allocate the money to retirement of state debt, incurred through health care costs and retirement funds. It would be refreshing to see a governor stand up and reject the money outright, and wash his/her hands of this dirty money.
We have reached crossroads in America, where the decisions we make right now concerning our economy could very well have major implications in how this country emerges from the present crisis.
As each day passes, it appears we could be heading for a depression. Jobless numbers continue to creep up, while the stock market has plummeted to the basement. All while the government has signed our name to over 1 trillion dollars in debt. It appears to me, that had we done nothing in the name of stimulus, we might have been in the same position now, but ask yourself this. Where will we be when we recover? Over 1 trillion dollars in debt. That's where.
Sometimes, the cure is worse than the disease. We always want a quick fix. We are willing to sacrifice our freedom and money for empty promises.

Budget Snag

Apparently, President Obama doesn't have the pull in the senate that we previously thought. It was reported today that there are not enough votes to pass the budget. One of the hang ups seems to be Cap and Trade for carbon emissions. If you are not familiar with Cap and Trade, it is basically a tax imposed on carbon producing facilities, such as electric generating plants, refineries and the like. a cap and trade system would limit the amount of carbon emissions a company can produce, and they would be required to purchase licenses for each ton of carbon emitted. As you can guess, this cost will be passed on to you, the consumer. So, it is a tax on YOU. The reasoning behing Cap and Trade is affect climate change. (Global Warming.) Hopefully, the senate will stand strong, and oppose the White House on this. The last thing we need in a dire recession is more taxes. Oh, and its supposed to snow tomorrow.

You've got to stand for something...

Part of the problem with our elected officials, and those within the Washington circle, is that very few of them stand for anything. And when you stand for nothing, you will fall for anything. Michael Steele, the head of the RNC, recently made comments about Rush Limbaugh, while on the D L Hughley show. The following are his words. "So let's put it into context here. Let's put it into context here. Rush Limbaugh is an entertainer. Rush Limbaugh, his whole thing is entertainment. Yes, it's incendiary. Yes, it's ugly." When called to task on it by Rush, a day later, Steele apologized for his words. This is his apology. "I went back at the tape, and I realized words that I said weren't what I was thinking. It was one of those things where I thinking (sic) I was saying one thing, and it came out differently." Now, maybe Mr. Steele really felt that way. I am not going to call him a liar, but it seems rather disengenious after reading his dialogue with Mr. Hughley. Now, on to my point. If Steele really feels that way about Rush, why not stand by your words. Rush is a big boy. He can take the criticism. Too often these days, we bow to the pressures of political correctness, when we should call a spade a spade. If you are speaking your beliefs and convictions, why should you have to apologize?

Bring Freedom Back charter blog

We are quickly watching our freedoms erode, our control of our government being ripped away, and our financial lives being snuffed out. It is time for everyone, left or right, to stand up, and take back YOUR freedom from those whom we have entrusted power to.
